1. check out newegg for some great deals on external harddrives:

2. burn as many folders as you like, provided they don't exceed the capacity of the dvd disk you are burning/copying to; no worries about overlapping. of course, depending on the power of your processor and whether you are copying to an external or internal drive, might leave you hanging until the transfer is complete.

3. when moving from dvd to your local drive, always COPY, never MOVE. if done so, then no worries about your original files ... they'll still be there for later transfer/use.
